About the Regional Assembly
RPA's annual Regional Assembly is New York's premier public policy event, bringing together several hundred top business, civic, philanthropic, media and government leaders from across the metropolitan region. Each year the Assembly focuses on a priority issue. In the wake of the financial crisis, the 2009 Assembly "America 2050: Building the Next Economy" took on a national emphasis with an in-depth look at what went wrong and what we could do to rebuild our economy with smarter investments.
In 2010, as the nation emerges from recession, we look to the future and consider Innovation and the American Metropolis. How can new approaches to the design and management of cities and region improve quality of life and economic competitiveness, and what will be the impact of emerging trends in technology and data? Innovation takes many forms, and the Assembly will reflect this dynamism, creating forums for sharing ideas and developing partnerships that will have regional- and nationwide implications.
